God, Our Peace

Seeking God as our peace is essential for spiritual, emotional, and mental well-being. It grounds us in faith, provides comfort in times of trouble, and provides us with an eternal perspective.

Reasons why…

He is Our Source of Peace

In Philippians 4:6-7, it says that the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. This indicates that true peace comes from a relationship with God, rather than from external circumstances.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

- Philippians 4:6-7

He is Our Comfort in Trials

Life is filled with challenges and uncertainties. Seeking God provides comfort and reassurance during tough times. Psalm 34:18 reminds us that the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”

- Psalm 34:18

He is Rest for The Soul

Jesus invites us to come to Him for rest (Matthew 11:28-30). In a world that often feels chaotic, turning to God allows us to find rest and solace, helping us to recharge and refocus.

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

- Matthew 11:28-30

He Gives Guidance and Wisdom Generously

When we seek God, we gain access to His wisdom and guidance. James 1:5 encourages us to ask God for wisdom, and He will give it generously. This guidance can lead to peace in decision-making and life choices.

If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.”

-James 1:5

He Will Give You an Eternal Perspective

Seeking God helps us maintain an eternal perspective. Understanding that our ultimate peace is found in Christ and the hope of eternal life can alleviate anxiety about present circumstances.

Praying for Peace

When praying for peace, use verses from the Bible as a foundation for your prayers. For example, you might pray a verse like Philippians 4:6-7, asking God to help you not be anxious and to fill you with His peace.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

- Philippians 4:6-7

Other scriptures to pray/meditate on…

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”

John 14:26-27

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction.”

2 Corinthians 1:3-4

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Isaiah 41:10

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”

Psalm 23:4

Journaling Your Prayers

Another suggestion is to write down your prayers in a journal. This can help you articulate your thoughts and feelings, and you can look back to see how God has answered your prayers over time. Remember, there’s no right or wrong way to pray. It’s about building a personal relationship with God and being open and honest with Him. I hope these suggestions inspire you in your prayer life as you seek peace!
