5 Changes In Bali Within The Last Year

Bali is a small island with so much to do, explore and see! Although this is only my second year going to Bali, a lot has changed since I first visited last year:
1. Increase in remote workers:
Due to the global shift towards remote work, Bali has seen an increase in digital nomads and expats choosing to live and work from the island. With that, Bali has already had an increase in tourism this year! In 2023, there was a significant increase in tourism from 2022 with about 5.3 million people visiting the island!
2. An increased focus on sustainable tourism:
Bali is truly striving to continuously grow tourist’s experience while on the island. There has been a growing emphasis on sustainable tourism practices, such as beach clean-ups and reduced single-use plastics. Bali is truly focused on the longevity of their economy and want to ensure each tourist’s experience is one they’ll enjoy and cherish forever!
3. Creative arts scene:
The creative arts scene in Bali has been thriving, with more artists, musicians, and performers from around the world showcasing their talent through exhibitions, concerts, and events. With Bali’s creative arts scene on the rise, there’s always something new to see and do when visiting the island!
4. Rise of plant-based dining:
Bali has seen a rise in plant-based and vegan dining options, catering to the growing demand for healthy and sustainable food choices, especially in the Canggu area!
5. Technology adoption:
Bali has seen an increase in the adoption of technology, with more businesses offering online services and digital payments. This was a huge difference from last year (2023) as many of the places we visited only accepted cash. It was refreshing to be able to just swipe my card and not have to keep up and worry about having cash this year!
I definitely recommend adding Bali to your bucket list of places to travel. I promise you won't be disappointed!
